Another Baby In Pink

April 30, 2008 ladynina Leave a comment

A new baby in the family. Love the look and feel of this piece. It’s pretty and it’s pink. Most importantly, it’s mine, not yours. Neh.neh.neh.neh.neh. Come exercise together-gether with me.

Owh… owh… thanks to Cres for introducing me to this baby. Hers is black. Hey, ask Mike to get one, then the 3 of us can be The Three Watch-keteers. Hur hur hur.

The Bookworm Is Still A Worm

April 24, 2008 ladynina 1 comment

I was so free yesterday (remember my audit meeting?) that I managed to chat with Cres via MSN. One thing led to another and in the end we talked about books. I think the topic started when I told her about my visit to Popular Bookstore at Petaling Street. Yea, I went there during lunch hour yesterday to get a new hole punch, as someone in my office broke my previous pink punch. Demit. Such an irresponsible person. We do have our own stationery department, but they don’t have pink punch in stock. Does the colour really matter? Yes !! So, it was good to know that Cres has same reading hobby like mine. Actually, we do have quite a number of things in common, such as food we eat, places we like to hang out, make-up we use, music we listen to and etcetera. Hee.

So back to the topic. When I was in Primary 1 – 6, I read those Enid’s Blyton and Nancy Drew books. My mom was an English teacher before she retired as a nurse so she encouraged us to read a lot of books back then. When I was young, I was so influenced by things I read. I’m still now by the way. So, for non EB & ND readers, these are an amateur sleuth, fictional mystery series type of books. So, since I said I was so influenced by these books, I actually founded ermm… my own investigation club back then. Really, no joke. You can laugh if you want too. Well, my sisters did laugh at me anyways. So, I don’t care. The members of the team were my classmates. All 5 girls by the way. We did have our weekly meeting, log book, by which came together with a weekly report. Ohh, yes we had a ‘case’ every week. We sure had a case every week. Hahaa ! I remembered our 1st case was about a white crocodile behind our school. Well, rumours said that there was an old well somewhere behind our school, and we were told that the water was blue. That was not the best part. The best part was, a white crocodile was a care taker of that so called blued-water well. So we were informed. Yea, it sounds like d’oh, but we were a bunch of ambitious investigators that time, mind you. To satisfy our curiosity, we did a secret ‘investigation’ (well, we were private detectives by name anyways) over the weekend and ended up, the rumours were just rumours. There was actually an old well but with very muddy water, not blue. And no white crocodile were visible to our eyes. But it was a fun activity though. The club was disunited when we entered our high school. I went to a selected school, and the rest went to another different schools.

When I was in Form 1 – 5, I read RL Stine books. Well, the original reason why I had to read these books was, I took a high level English as one of my tuition subjects, so the subject had constantly needed me to have a so called fluent English both for speaking and writing purposes. Another important reason; RL Stine was a hit that time, so I had to be ‘in the loop’ by reading them ‘in’ books, okay? I had to be a cool girl. RL Stine has the greatest thriller stories to share and I was a huge fan of his books. Back to the English subject, the tutor for this subject was a very fine lady; a Singaporean by the way. I learned a lot from her. So did my sister. Yea, we both took the same subject. But she was not a fan of RL Stine’s though. Another hit author that time was Christopher Pike. I don’t know why she preferred spirituality / spooky and whodunit storybooks that time. Well, I reckon she made a good choice because she has better English than me. When I was in Form 5, I knew them money my parents spent on these books were all paid off when I got a fine result for my 1119. I wrote an essay about a thriller story for that paper, which actually I ‘stole’ it from one of the books. Not a bad plagiarism. Really.

As I entered college and university, I passed the books to my younger sister, which she is not interested by the way. Well, she is not a book worm, anyways. But still, she is one smart girl. I don’t have time to take care of the books now due to works and other commitments, but I hope one day I can spare my time to collect all the books and maybe donate it to any library. But of course, only those with no scribble i.e. “Supergirl is great”, “Supergirl is reading this on….”, “Supergirl is sleepy..”, “I’ve super power. Do you?”… and etcetera. Will find a good time for that.

I’ve Got To Swim It – Swim It

If this baby can swim, why can’t I? I think I should learn how to swim. Like now. It’s not too late, aye? I know when it comes to water, I will struggle like fish without water. Even if it is only my waist level; I’ll be so nervous. But I need to learn to swim this year. I need to. I must.

Where Is Mr. Potato’s Karma?

April 20, 2008 ladynina 3 comments

For those who know me, they will know how much I can be influenced by things I saw on TV or movies. Not so much from magazines and books though. So I watched Nigella Express the other day. Gosh, this lady can make anything looks yummy ! Even a simple pancake (not a fan of pancake). Let alone if she cooks something else, which I totally suggest you not to watch this show when you decided not to eat anything after a hard workout in gym. Why? You might want to break your rules and go travel all the way to find a food. Ok, so I watched her show the other day. She cooked this very nice dessert using sweet potatoes as main ingredient. I guess you know what happened after that. Yes, I looked high and low for sweet potatoes (the one with red purplish colour). Sadly, I can’t find any of them at any shop in my area. I called BFF, asking her where to get them, which she laughed by the way because she knew I must have been influenced by Nigella. I know they sell it at wet market but there is no such market nearby my house. So, that was few days back.

I went to TC today for BC and I popped by Tesco just to get some Ginger Nut biscuit before class. There is another story behind this biscuit. And yea, this biscuit is only distributed and sold at Tesco. I don’t know why. After I grabbed 3 packets of them, I quickly rushed to express counter to pay. On the way to the counter, my eyes caught something looked so familiar. Yes, it was sweet potatoes ! The red purplish one ! Happy-happy. Like a kid who got her McDonald’s Happy Meal. Yea, that kind of happy. Knowing it would trouble me to carry them around (because I had planned to hit Axis after BC @ TC) by public transport (I don’t drive), I still grabbed quite a load of them. Well, not that I’m going to cook like Nigella anyways (nooo, I’m not gonna), I just feel like eating them. Nyum ! When I was on my way out, I realized that they charged me wrong for them potatoes, which was only 99 cents. But I didn’t go back because I was so late for class already. I thought maybe after BC, I will pop by again and pay the remaining balance, which I didn’t by the way because I totally forgot about it. Well… karma does exist. Nuff said. It turned out that, half of them potatoes were not edible. Why? They were the opposite side of sweet. Yea, bitter like hell that I had to throw them away. *Sigh* This is not fair. Not that I don’t wanna pay the balance, but I forgot to go back there. Not that I don’t want to go back while I was on the way out, but I was so late for classes already. *Sigh* Not fair-not fair. So, I had to settle with the remaining half of very sweet, nice and edible potatoes. *Eeeiii, benci…*

Moral of the story : There’s no free stuff. Really. Even it is not your fault.

Taiwan Bubble Tea

April 18, 2008 ladynina 4 comments

Anyone knows where I can get Taiwan Bubble Tea with flavour? Well, I’m not sure whether the tea is from Taiwan or not but at least that’s what they call it. Last time I had was during a trip to Genting Highlands couple of months back. The stall that selling the tea is right at the entrance of the outdoor theme park. Anyone? Anyone?? No one? It looks something like this…

Anyone?

Fight Revisited

April 17, 2008 ladynina Leave a comment

So JWP beat Dzhabar last night. The Genghis Khan was denied by 1 point different. So close. The fight was great though. The kind that you won’t regret if you woke up at 2 – 3 in the morning just to watch one match. Like football; it is totally worth it to wake up at the wee hours of the morning if both teams score more goals rather than no goal at all. Yea, something like that. A load of clinches than hardcore punches and knees/legs attacks. I missed Dzhabar high speed punch like one of those he used when he fought Soren. That was one heckuva hard if not KO punch. Too bad that he didn’t win. That was so close. So close. Dzhabar will be so missed.

Now, it is down to JWP and Yodsaenklai. A revisited fight. They have fought before in a different championship. The Thai Hero outclassed JWP on a unanimous points decision over five rounds and claimed the WBC title belt. Hope he will repeat his victory this time around. And hope to see more MT techniques in this final round.

*Learn to love them clinch*
