Premature Baby 101

Just when I thought I’m pretty good with general knowledge, boy I was wrong. Today I learned about premature baby/birth.

All this while, I thought premature baby is them baby who has not completed some of their body parts i.e. fingers, toes, lungs and etcetera. Hmmm. I know. Like d’oh. And I thought when a premature baby (the one with the incomplete body parts like I thought) is placed in an incubator, their body parts will grow with the help of warmth and water. Mmmm… double d’oh. Seriously. No matter how illogical it may sound, that was what believe all these days. “Hmmm, wonder if I ever told any other people about this wrong info?” *Scratching head* Today I realized that my ideas about premature baby are super myth. *Kepish*

My colleague gave birth to a twin last night; a boy and a girl. Yes, they are them prematures. She is supposed to give birth in October. Fine. When my other colleagues wanted to visit her today, somehow I was excited to see the babies. Why? It was because of my earlier thoughts about them prematures. Alas, I couldn’t see them because they both are in ICU for close monitoring. My curiosity went ahead of me so I asked my other colleagues about this premature thingy. Of course they laughed at me. Hahaa. They told me that by Week 12 or so, the baby has completed his/her parts inside out already. Hmmm. Come to think of it, then only I can see the logicalness. C’mon, how can fingers grow while they are in the incubator? ROTFL. I must have been comparing them with plants. The one that needs water and light to grow. *Giggles*

I should read more !
