Behind The Scene

June 29, 2009 ladynina 1 comment

Stories behind a story. Heehee. Here we go…

  • On the 5KM mark (based from my HRM), a lady patted my shoulder and said Hi. She said she recognised me from the Bukit Jalil Run somewhere in March this year. And she also said, at that run, towards the finishing line, she was running next to me. Hee. I feel famous. LOL!!!
  • On the 12KM mark, my right leg was cramped. One senior citizen runner stopped and offered me his deep heat. At the same time, he asked his ‘team’ to go ahead. Before his friends left, they told me not to give up. It was so thoughtful of them.
  • On a designated shower mark, I saw the shower and shouted, “SHOWER!!!” Sprinted to the place and only to realize, they were few other marathoners ran with me in joy. Hahaa ! We were so happy to see water.
  • On a 15KM mark, there was another senior citizen runner from Ipoh, asked me how long more the route. I wasn’t really sure that time, but I said prolly 5KM because based from my timing, I should have been running more than 15KM that time. The he said, “You are a strong runner. Keep it up…” and he Hi-5 me. I told him not to give up. It was just 5KM more and more or less around 20 – 25 minutes more to run. If he could last 1 hour plus, 25 minutes is nothing.
  • On the last 2KM mark (after the last water station), I started to sprint. Before I started to do so, I saw one senior citizen runner stopped at the water station mark. He couldn’t run anymore. Told him, we were almost there and the remaining run should last in 10 to 15 minutes. Told him not to give up and he’s all fine. He crossed the finishing line 10 minutes after me. I’m happy !

It has been a great day. And I’m still high from SCKLM yesterday. Heehee. mysignature

SCKLM : When Seeing Is Believing

My Half Marathon finisher medal... =)

My Half Marathon finisher medal... =)

Completed my SCKLM 21KM today with a great feeling. A shy of 9KM from my 30KM in January, early this year and yet it was still torturous for me. Being an amateur marathoner, that’s why. Hee. Technically, I ran myself as most of my friends were in a different league. So, self-pscyho myself seemed to work for a time like this. And definitely my favourite line for today is Run Like The Wind. Hee. So for 2 hours or so, I let it be played on repetition in my mind, like an old broken record; “Don’t stop… run like the wind…” Hey, it worked real fine !

Pre-Race Day

I collected my race pack on Day 1 and word couldn’t describe how unorganised was the logistic for the collection. Weather was not on our side (can’t blame the organiser for this), but I blamed them for not having extra tents, should thing like this happen. Ended up, people ran from the field to the organiser tents for shelter. Messy. Very messy! When the rain stopped, power was off and we had to wait quite sometime for the power to be back because system was down that time. After I collected everything, 2 of the packs I collected on behalf of friends had no running bib and I need to queue one more time at the information tent to ask for the bibs. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. A lot of other marathoners didn’t have the running bib in their race pack. It was like one after another. But good thing was, they managed to resolve these hiccups on Day 2. So people who collected the race pack on Day 2 had a better experience than us.

Race Day

Reached Dataran Merdeka as early as 5.15 am and it was drizzled on my way there by foot. Most of the half marathoners were on the field by the time I reached the place. Our flagged off was on time as expected. I considered myself as lucky because I didn’t face any hiccup on the race day itself. As in, there were enough water/isotonic/sponge stations for me. I’m not sure for those who came later than me. I heard some water stations were not there by the time they reached the designated marks. On a side note, frequently my friends ask me why do I sign up for so many runs. To me, the one thing or shall I say the main reason is, I love to see the will power showed by the runners, regardless of what age. It is a beautiful sight to see. So… I did see a lot of them along the way and I was amazed on how a strong mind outwits anything.

On my route thing, since I ’studied’ the route before hand, I basically could estimate how long more I need to run. The moment I saw Sogo turn for half marathoners, I sprinted like nobody business. Managed to finish my run way before time and I’m happy with my timing. Yayy !

My dislike in this marathon was the crowd control at the finishing line. It looked like a carnival where those who had done their deed, scattered around the finishing line and it was a bit distracted for me. In fact there was a couple who walked and talked in front of me and I had to cut them off. All I need was just a smooth finishing after the 21KM route. And another hiccup was I didn’t know what to do next after I crossed the finishing line. No one told me what to do or where to go next. I had to called MC, asked her what to do. But of couse she was on the way back already. Gee… I hope the next SCKLM will be much better than this.

All and all, the route was tough and the hilly part was quite long. Thank goodness the weather was so nice that it helped me a lot. I reckon that I was so lucky that I didn’t face any hiccup on my side; be it before the run or on the run day itself. I pity those runners who suffered lack of water stations and some of 5KM runners were misdirected and ended up they ran for lesser than 5KM and some even finished within 10 minutes. So many drama it seemed but well, people say, if they didn’t happen, they won’t learn. Hope the next organiser will do much better job. So overall, that was a great experience. Definitely not my last SCKLM. Hopefully.

Cheers to all of us SCKL marathoners !!! mysignatureSee y’all next time.

The Wait

June 23, 2009 ladynina Leave a comment

We spend most of our time waiting. We wait for LRT/bus every morning to go to work, we wait for traffic lights, we wait to get our food, we wait for time to do things, for people we loved and for so many things. Most of the time we wait. Some people have been waiting their whole life even, but they just don’t know for what. I hope I won’t be that some people.

If you think about it, the amount of our wait per day is really humongous. Just that we didn’t realize it because sometimes we tend to overlook on this tiny-weeny thing. Just like waiting. As for me, I do wait a lot. In fact, my accumulated amount of waiting per day is quite huge. Waiting for anything and everything. Some are worth the wait, some are totally useless. I do know, my wait seems to neverending.

So, what/who are you waiting for? mysignature

The Day I Feel It’s Alive Again

June 21, 2009 ladynina Leave a comment

Finally, I feel that BC is alive again. It has been awhile I don’t have this kind of feeling; I think it’s few releases back. The last release that I was this super excited is BC34. I love this release; BC40. How can BC be this cool? The one thing I didn’t like initially, is the one thing I like the most now. And that is MT. How can MT be this rough and cool? Bounce. Bounce.

On a different note, T5 of RPM43 is super cool. The coolest track so far.  Feel the ALCOHOL of this contemporary rock. But don’t get drunk because you need to be sober for the remaining of the tracks. I believe that instructors feel so cool teaching this track too. Yes? If only I…

Alright, need to burn midnight oil already. Hope to come out with a good piece. Laters people. mysignature

Pure Happiness

June 17, 2009 ladynina Leave a comment

Anything and everything can trigger our happy button. From a thing as small as; it’s green light all the way while driving or rushing to work, to a bigger thing such as being promoted and so on. Anything can lead to happiness. It boils down to our heart. How do you want it to feel; happy? sad? What does our heart tell us? As for yours truly, I can be totally happy in the morning if none of my colleague mess up with my stuff at my work station. If I reached office and my table is just like how I left it the day before, I’m more than happy already. I can buy you donut already, because I’m happy. Hahaa.

But……

Nothing beats the lasting happiness, yes? Agree? Spoke with a dear friend from a small island down south last night about lasting happiness and we both agreed that SATISFACTION leads to lasting happiness. Religiously, we often hear quotes like, ‘Follow your heart’, ‘Don’t live with so many IFs’ or ‘Do now or die trying.’ Religiously we heard this before but do we religiously adhere to its true meaning? Or it’s just a word play to soothe our heart? Lena once said, it doesn’t matter how tired we are, but if we enjoy what we do, that’s a pure satisfaction. Something like that. I agree. So what leads to my pure satisfaction then? What are they? Could it be writing? (if I can write in a bigger space, that’s a satisfaction for me)… or… SHARING my passion. That’s a pure satisfaction indeed. Something for me to ponder religiously. Hee.

A good friend once said, if one day I reach to the point where I come back and ask myself this, “What if I tried it last time?”, then that will be too late for damage control. What do you reckon? I’m just common today, my sense is resting. Heh.

… so life is indeed never a smooth sailing, aye? mysignature
